Thanks for the info. We're just getting ready to try the sippy cup and this guide will definitely be useful. We stopped buying Gerber baby food because believe or not, they package their food in #7 plastic containers (even the organic food!)

Bethany

I heard that #3 was the problem with BPA, not #7?

Vanessa

Thanks for this, I just found out about BPA today. And am switching to a different bottle as well as sippys for my kids.

Bethany - Based on the research Ive done so far, labels 2, 4, 5, and 6 are safe. 3 & 7 definetely not.

kat

6 is not safe either -- that is polystyrene or styrofoam.

here is a link to an article on BPA. It has a link to a great handout on safe plastic usage. There is also a list of BPA-free bottles and sippy cups.

Numbers 3, 6, and 7 are the bad ones. This pisses me off beyond belief! We have been hearing about this for easily THREE YEARS and they said, "no, no , no, there, there...every thing is ok"! Now, it's, "Well, maybe BPA is a problem". IT IS A PROBLEM!!!! I am so sick of FDA and our government taking all these kickbacks and telling us what's "safe" and what's "not"...and I am in the chemical industry! I knew this stuff was bad in these particular applications. What is horrible is how it is so hidden that even a trained eye cannot see.
