Gift giving season is just around the corner and if you're looking to give eco-friendly gifts this year, here's a fantastic option: The Green Glass Company. This eclectic glass studio in Northern Wisconsin makes stunning glassware out of old wine bottles.
What's really intriguing is the process: they make 2 separate drinking glasses out of one bottle without any waste! The bottom part of the bottle becomes a tumbler and the top is expertly formed into a goblet. The goblet is made by flaring the mouth to form the base, then twisting the neck closed to create the bowl of the goblet. How cool is that!
They come in a variety of colors and can be frosted and/or etched. I've seen them at green gift shows and I can vouch for how beautiful they are! You can also find glassware made from recycled Perrier bottles and Mexican Sol beer bottles.
Twin Cities readers can find Green Glass products at Linden Hills Natural Home, ReGifts and The Wedge Co-op.
(Thanks to Scoutie Girl's recent post for reminding me about this great company!
