I've had my eye on this funky little product for quite some time but I haven't managed to get my hands on one yet. What is it??? Why it's a Snack Ball - and it's perfect for taking snacks on the go!
The solid ball protects snacks from getting crushed and it's waste-free - a big 'boon' to the environment. In fact, a company called Boon invented the Snack Ball and a bunch of other stylish, modern products for kids. Be sure to check them out - all their designs are innovative, ultra-hip and practical!
Their products are plastic, but they most of them are BPA-free (no concerns about dangerous chems leaking into your little one's food) and dishwasher safe. (an informed reader just let me know that Boon's Squirt spoon does use polycarbonate plastic - the source of BPA. I called Boon and they are looking to replace that material ASAP due to customer concerns.)
I was working on this post when I discovered that Nature Moms has a Boon giveaway going on right now! She's got a Groovy plate and Modwear utensils (along with some feeding products from Sassy) to give to one of her readers. Hurry, the contest ends on Friday, Feb. 29th!
Meanwhile, I found out that Pacifier (a local Twin Cities store and online shop) carries Boon products. I'll be heading over there as soon as I can to get me a Snack Ball!

Super cool product! So cool, I went to Boon's website to check out all their products. I love them. My friend is expecting a new little one soon, and I think I just found the perfect baby shower gift. Thanks for sharing!

Just wanted to mention, I was disappointed to learn that not all Boon products are BPA free. I bought the the Squirt feeding spoon and it is one of their products that does use a plastic with BPA in it. It's not that their products are labeled as being free of BPA, but from what I had read, I thought their whole product line was safe. (I don't know why they would remove BPA from many but not all of their products, so I'm going to contact them about this.)

I've been looking for a non-plastic version of this product for a while . . . I'd like some sort of plastic-free "snack trap," but haven't found anything. This may be getting close, if it's BPA-free. Thanks for reviewing it!
We just mentioned your blog on our website when we compiled a list of our favorite green mom blogs. We'll be checking your blog often!

Rebecca - I know what you mean about wanting something plastic free. It's hard to find. Cloth sacks are available (easy to make to) but they won't keep snacks from getting crushed unless you put a container inside. I bet we'll start seeing small stainless containers before too long...there's a lot of demand out there.
