On our last road trip I packed a picnic lunch and dinner. It was easy to do because we had a one day drive to our destination.

I have food allergies which means there are few places I can safely eat anyway. So we pick nicer restaurants where staff is trained to handle allergies and the only fast food we eat is Chipotle. :)

We also always have our water bottles and all that good stuff.

It's been a long while since I went on a road trip. Now that we rely on City Car Share for occasional wheels, we don't travel that much. Back in the day, I packed egg salad, bread and plenty of washed fruit to carry on longer trips, along with a bag of chips. Was a time I baked cookies before a trip, but that eventually fell away in favor of our favorite brands of chocolate, which of course meant more packaging to dispose of. We weren't so conscious of our disposable habits then, and always carried a roll of paper towels and a package of wet wipes. I love your dish towel idea. So much bigger and more absorbent than typical cloth napkins.

It really felt good when you care for our environment and do things that other people could not afford to do even if they are at home.

I agree about picking the sit-down restaurant, rather than eating at fast food joints, since at our home, they are everywhere! People should try the restaurants for a change, since you might encounter something delicious. This is also the reason me and my friends in Edmonton go on a road trip; to find the best poutine in Canada for two weeks in my Dodge van.

I hate styrofoam so much. I don't fast food except Chipotle of course, but when I did, I never went to Dunkin' Donuts for the shear reason that they still use styrofoam cups. Grrr Have a great trip!!! :)
