The movement to get healthy food into the hands (and stomachs!) of kids just keeps growing. That's a good thing because the obesity epidemic just keeps getting worse. Recent statistics from the World Health Organization state that 43 million children worldwide are overweight or obese. If present trends hold true, our kids will have a 1 in 3 chance of becoming diabetic (according to new info from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.) Fortunately, there are some excellent resources for combating those dismal statistics. I'll tell you about some of them in this 3 part series on how to get kids to eat their veggies.
If you are the type who would much rather watch a video than spend time reading an article, then you'll appreciate Parent Earth. Parent Earth creates short, entertaining videos about food with the goal of educating families about how to get their kids to eat the best, healthiest food possible. Partnering with experts like Chef Ann Cooper, Dr. Sears and Anna Lappe, as well as other health-saavy organizations around the web,the videos answer age-old questions like How to Help the Picky Eater, How to Survive Grocery Shopping with Children and How to Eat for a Healthy Pregnancy. They've also got healthy recipes like Banana Almond Butter Popsicles (for yum!!) and much, much more.
But don't just take my word for it. Check out a few videos for yourself. Here's my personal favorite,Who Put the Burger on the Plate? (a music video!):
And just in time for Thanksgiving....Cooking With Kids: Thanksgiving (+ baby food) shows you how to engage kids in making the big holiday meal plus how to whip up a pureed Thanksgiving dinner for baby too!
(Come back early next week for part 2 of How to Get Kids to Eat Their Veggies!!)

I love this video! My wife tried cooking dishes with our kids, and it helped them realize how great it is to eat vegetables everyday. Now I am relieved. =]
