You've probably got the reusable grocery bag habit down pretty well by now. So are you ready to master a new eco-habit? How about giving up paper towels in public restrooms? Knowing that the average person uses 2400 to 3000 paper towels in a year, this is an eco-habit that could have considerable positive environmental impact!
Sound like a good idea but hard to pull off? It's easier than you'd think - especially if you carry PeopleTowels in your purse or backpack. PeopleTowels are reusable, hand towels meant to replace paper towels in on-the-go situations. Here's what makes PeopleTowels so great:
- Made from 100% organic, Fair Trade cotton (GOTS certified)
- Very absorbent but light-weight fabric that dries quickly
- Machine washable
- Printed using eco-friendly dyes
- Can clip onto bag using convenient cloth hangtag
- Sets come with handy carrying sack
- Multiple other uses including lunch box napkin, hankie and wipe for messy hands and faces
- Company is member of 1% For The Planet
Best of all, PeopleTowels are adorable! The company sent me the Earth Set (pictured here) but there are many other cute designs. Order them individually or in 2, 3 or 5 day supplies. You can even create custom designs and sell PeopleTowels as a school fundraiser!
Are you ready to make PeopleTowels your next Eco-Habit? Get a 15% discount on any order of 2 or more PeopleTowels using the code MINDFUL at checkout. Valid through midnight, CST on Wednesday, October 12th.
(Full Disclosure: I was sent a free sample of PeopleTowels in exchange for my honest opinion.)

Any thoughts on just using santizer gel and avoiding hand driers, paper towels, water heating etc?

Cool! One more way to move away from the "disposable" mind set. Thanks!

Hi Nicola - personally, I am not a fan of hand sanitizer. Many contain yucky ingredients. That said, there are better brands like Clean Well which certainly have their place!

Hi Imperfectly Green - glad you're into moving away from disposables too! (love your name by the way!)

I had never thought about reusable hand towels. Interesting because we took a bunch of baby face cloths on our road trip to Blogher (with a little spray bottle of water for big messes in the car) instead of wet wipes. But these are much cuter to keep in my purse than a face cloth. And I suspect they dry pretty quickly too.

Tracey - yes the PeopleTowels try really fast, which is nice. Good for you for bringing reusable wipes on your road trip! Hope you had fun at BlogHer - I sure did!

I'm set firmly against paper towels in my house. We've improvised by having a full drawer of extra dish towels and recycled rags from cut up old t-shirts. I'd never seen these PeopleTowels! What a great find!

Hi Maryssa - good for you for giving up paper towels in your home! We use rags for spills and cleaning around the house too. What I love about People Towels is that you can keep them in your purse and pull them out when you need them - so easy!

That's such a smart use! I have baby wipes in my purse but this would be a great sustainable substitute! Thanks! What do you think of Thirsties Fab Wipes? Would you still recommend People Towels over these?

Hi Maryssa - I have never tried Thirsties Fab Wipes - where do you find them?
