Talking Green at BlogHer '12

I'm a big believer in face time. That might sound ironic considering that I write for a living and spend most of my days alone in my home office. I'm constantly using email and social media to "chat" with my green friends and co-workers and we even pick up the phone now and then for a real conversation. But there is nothing like seeing each other in IRL!! We got that chance at the BlogHer conference in New York City last weekend. And boy did we talk, and talk and talk.....

The first event was a cocktail party sponsored by Stonyfield Organic with help from Healthy Child Healthy World. The party was at a swanky, NYC restaurant called Rouge Tomate. The locally sourced, organic hors d'oeuvres and desserts were fantastic! Lori from Groovy Green Livin and I were the blogger ambassadors for the party. Here I am addressing the group:

 

 

After the party, Stonyfield treated a bunch of us to a wonderful dinner at Stonyfield founder Gary Hirshberg's new restaurant Chelsea's Table. I highly recommend a visit next time you are in New York!

 

The following evening we attended a gathering of people from Moms Clean Air Force to talk about how we can better support their efforts to fight air pollution. I was so happy to finally meet Ronnie Citron-Fink, the managing editor of their website - what a sweetheart! Afterwards, a bunch of us went out for dinner and talked "green" all evening.

Then after a day of learning and laughing at the conference, we hit up a fun Italian restaurant in the East Village on Saturday night.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to spend time with all of these wonderful people - bloggers, community leaders, activists, humor writers, moms, pet lovers, crafters, foodies - new friends and old!!
