A New Store
If you are a fan of yoga and active lifestyle apparel, it is likely that you have run across the brand prAna before. One of my favorite shirts is a prAna design that I bought through Title Nine a couple of years ago. Well, a brand new prAna store just opened up in the Twin Cities area (50th & France in Edina for those of you who are locals) and I could not be more thrilled! To celebrate the opening, prAna held a Flash Flannel yoga event in front of the store last week. This was my first outdoor yoga event and although it was a little chilly, we kept warm doing yoga in our new prAna organic cotton flannel shirts!
The prAna Purpose
prAna is one of those cool companies that began as a tiny startup in a garage in California. They sewed clothing especially designed for yoga and climbing and shipped it to customers in surplus fruit boxes found at the local grocery store. For hangtags they made handmade paper out of ground up newspapers and attached them with twine and a safety pin.
Over time, the company has grown considerably, but they still have the same mission: to create purposeful garments designed for freedom of movement. And while the handmade paper and repurposed boxes were not scalable to a large business, sustainability is clearly still a core value.
prAna Clothing
Here are a few reasons why prAna is one of my go-to clothing brands:
A growing organic cotton collection including this Rapture Hoodie, which is my new favorite shirt:
Many items made with recycled polyester blends and recycled wool. The Lucia Sweater is made from 40% recycled wool:
The first Fair Trade Certified apparel in the marketplace (they just won an award for it!). The Pow Wow Scarf is a beautiful example:
Giveaway!
How would you like to win a Fair Trade Pow Wow scarf of your very own? Use the Rafflecopter form below to enter and leave a comment letting me know which prAna products catch your eye. I will also be picking a local reader to win a 50% off shopping spree for you and a friend at the new Edina, MN store - so please write the word LOCAL in your comment if you want to be considered for that! The giveaway will run through midnight on Thursday, November 15th. Good luck!
(Disclosure: I was given some free clothing from prAna in exchange for my honest opinion.)

i really like the Sydney sweater dress, although I'm not sure it would look good on my. Maybe it can be my goal for going through P90X... On the other hand, I've always loved convertible pants so their Monarch is cute. I can't pick among their sweaters. I'll just have to win the lotto so I can buy a bunch of them.
