I totally agree that recycling these great old toys is the ultimate in green gifting. My 17 month old daughter is completely taken with the same fisher price little people that I was obsessed with when I was a toddler. They are so perfect and so simple to play with, and there's nothing else that keeps her so absorbed. We were given a large collection by a friend of my mom's that was moving away, and I found the carosel for her on ebay for her christmas present. This toy is 44 years old and still works - no batteries!

The new little people are so lame in comparison! Lots of batteries and too much complexity to make absorbing toys.

my son plays with my almost 40 year old FP stuff-carousel, ferris wheel, firetruck, and school bus. it gives me such joy that he loves them!
