I never thought I could fall in love with a blender...but boy-oh-boy have I ever. Admittedly, I have never owned a blender that really worked very well. I've been making smoothies in my Cuisinart for ages and I basically gave up on the idea of making anything that involved crushed ice.
So when I was offered a chance to try out a Vita-Mix, I thought why not? It would be nice to use a blender that could actually crush ice for once - maybe I'd even whip up a batch of Margaritas!
What I didn't realize is that a Vita-Mix is SO much more than a blender. It's a food processor, juicer, ice cream maker, soup maker and more. Most people I know aren't in the market for a $500 blender. But if you are, or if you ever have a chance to get one used...just know that this thing ROCKS!!
The greatest thing about the Vita-Mix is that it makes healthy eating so easy. It easily blends whole fruits and vegetables to get the maximum nutrition and most things take just minutes to make. Here are just a few things I've tried so far:
And what about those Margaritas? I've been so busy making healthy foods in the Vita-Mix that I forgot all about them! (By the way, clean up is a snap - just add water and dish soap to the dirty container and zap it clean! And in case you're concerned, the Vita-Mix container is totally BPA-free. It's made from Tritan co-polyester, which is just as tough as polycarbonate but safer to use.)
For a chance to win your very own Vita-Mix 5200, leave a comment on this post with what you would make if you had your very own Vita-Mix!! I'll use my random number generator to pick a winner at the end of the day (midnight, central time) on Wednesday, April 15th (Tax day!) (only one entry per person please and you must have a U.S. shipping address)
If your good luck charm didn't work for you this time but you decide that you can't live without one of these things, you can get free shipping from Vita-Mix by using the following code: 07-0036-0044 or this coded url www.vitamix.com/mindfulmomma at checkout.
Good luck!
Holy Moly - I felt a bit anxious about picking a winner for this giveaway. I knew I was going to make one person extremely happy today!! And more than a few others disappointed. I put fate in the hands of the random number generator....and it picked Sabrita. Sabrita said that she has a chronic medical condition and that the Vita Mix will help her in the healing process. I couldn't think of a better reason to have a Vita Mix then to pack some good nutrition into a healing body.
I cannot tell you how much I yearn for a vitamix! I grew up with one, and never realized how much my mom used it. My son has corn and soy sensitivities, so you can imagine how hard it is to feed him.... I make our own bread, but with a vitamix, this would be SO easy and cool. And did I mention he is also the world's pickiest eater? A smoothie with a single lump means he won't eat smoothies for months. With a vitamix, I know I could make ice cream, smoothies, and a host of other things SMOOTH to please my mister man. Oh please oh please, oh PLEASE pick me!!!!!!

Oh please don't make me pick one thing?! I'd make something every day!

I would LOVE to make my own nut butters. And I once had a sample from the VitaMix vendor at Costco that was delish - it was some kind of carrot and ginger soup. But making my own bread from wheat berries would probably be something that we'd make the most!

Dude. I would love to have a vitamix machine. Smoothies every day!

I certainly couldn't afford one myself but would be thrilled to win one! I, too, would be on the bread bandwagon... and smoothies in the spring\summer are our favorites. Thank you for such a generous giveaway!

Oh, my poor $20 Wal-Mart blender cannot take another day of making green smoothies. Fruit and spinach or kale, plus a little sweetener, and I've gotten lots of nutrients in one little drink. Even 3 of my 4 kids like them (the other is too young!) Plus, I want to try nut butters, wheat berries, and so many other things.

Oh yeah I'd take that! I think I'd most use it to make my own purees. Amongst all the other wonderful things =)

I would go with the fruit smoothy - nutrition and good taste. Vitamix is located here in my home town. High end, made in the USA is a good business model.

Oh my! I'd love this! I've burned out 2 blenders in the last 6 months. I'd love it for soups and smoothies. Our favorite black bean soup would come together in a snap with a Vita-Mix

I'd use it to grind my own grain (hello Nourishing Traditions), make nut butter, and green smoothies. I would be SOOOO excited to win one!

I would give it to my best friend who has been dreaming of owning one.

The question is what wouldn't i make? I think the one thing i would love to make in this would be my chimichurri sauce/ It's cilantro, parsley, garlic, olive oil and spices. It's so delicious. !!

Oh my gosh! I saw a demonstration for one of these at my local Costco and stood there forever watching all the things this guy could make! I make my own baby food so this would be perfect! It's great since you can use almost all of the fruits and vegetables in there. No peeling, no coring, aweseom! I'd also love to make some great smoothies, salsas, and salad dressings! Yum!

I would totally make my own sunflower seed butter. And breads. Oooooh and all sorts of spice blends for Indian cooking....mmmmmmm....

I've wanted one if these for sooooo long!!!! We would make our own gluten free flours (rice, almond)... We would use it for all kinds of healthy, raw smoothies... I would make baby food for the daycare kiddos... And so much more!!!

I saw a Vitamix recipe for hummus made with whole sesame seeds rather than tahini. I would like to try that. I'd also make my own nut/seed butters and almond milk.
Posted by: Jennifer D | April 02, 2009 at 08:43 PM
I'd use a vita-mix to make pecan pate, and perhaps a rich tomato bisque. Plus turning ingredients for sauce into a nice smooth puree!
Posted by: theo | April 02, 2009 at 08:46 PM
I've heard wonderful things about this blender. I have a friend that used to have one. I'd love make smoothies and soups of all kinds. The one thing though I'd love to make the most is Butternut Squash soup.
