Do you have a calendar for the New Year yet? My sister gave me one for Christmas that is just so lovely I have to share it with you.
The artist, Nikki McClure, uses an X-acto knife to cut her designs into paper. The striking images of everyday life in nature and the community evoke a sense that hard work will bring rewards and that there is much to appreciate in our world. The calendar is printed on 100% post-consumer, recycled paper using soy ink.
My sister also gave me this very special seasonal journal called Remember. It is divided into sections for the 4 seasons and has a mix of blank pages, Nikki's incredible artwork and some truly inspirational sentiments for each season. I am using it not as a journal to vent emotions (I have a different one for that!) but rather to record thoughts and observations for the day. A mindfulness journal of sorts.
I am writing in a journal this year as we are planning and hopefully commencing on a massive renovation to this house.

Love her artwork! Second year I gave my mom her calendar for Christmas. My mom is saving the pictures to frame and hang on the wall.

We realized after Christmas that we were not given a calendar this year! So all we have is a free calendar from Save the Children. :-)
I'm doing journaling as a writing practice this year, although I'm just using an old composition book of my daughter's. I'm writing down 10 or so things that happened, just the bare facts, and then expanding on at least one of those.

Kathleen - I like your idea of writing down just the facts. That's similar to what I've been doing....making observations helps me to pay more attention to my world.
