This might seem like a no-brainer, but with the plethora of individually packaged food products out there, it might not. Instead of buying individual servings of applesauce in throw away containers, get yourself a tight sealing, reusable container and package it yourself. You'll be well on your way to a waste-free lunch!
Even better - make your own homemade applesauce out of organic apples!

Great green idea! I find applesauce to be such a fabulous healthy sweetener for baked goods too, like my Sneaky Chef brownies: http://www.thesneakychef.com/free-recipe-Motts-brownies.php

It might seem like a "no brainer" but when I go to the store and I see the sheer volume of individually packaged, single serve convenience items, I'm just shocked. So thanks for the tip ... it's not only earth-friendly but if we make our own products to package, it'll be much healthier as well. And don't our kids deserve that? :-)

I agree Small Footprints - it really is shocking how many single-serve food products are out there tempting us every day. I try to avoid those sections of the grocery store completely.
